Na manhã desta quarta-feira, 10 de abril de 2024, no Senado Federal em Brasília, deu-se a instauração da Comissão Parlamentar de Inquérito (CPI) dedicada às apostas esportivas.

Durante este encontro inaugural, destacou-se o apelo unânime por harmonia e colaboração entre os membros, visando assegurar transparência e eficácia nas investigações futuras. Foi acordado que as reuniões da CPI ocorrerão às segundas-feiras, às 15h, ou às quartas-feiras, às 14h, dependendo da natureza do convite ao depoente e da estimativa de duração da sessão. Esta distinção busca acomodar sessões mais extensas nas segundas-feiras e as mais breves nas quartas-feiras. A comissão será composta por 11 membros titulares e 7 suplentes.

A CPI se propõe a levar a cabo suas investigações com máximo rigor e seriedade, incluindo a aplicação de sanções severas, como o banimento do futebol brasileiro para aqueles que sejam comprovadamente culpados de manipulação de resultados. On the morning of Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Federal Senate in Brasília, the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) dedicated to sports betting was inaugurated. This CPI has the primary goal of investigating, within a period of 180 days, the allegations and suspicions of manipulation in the results of Brazilian football, covering the involvement of players, directors, and betting companies. The initial session was marked by the official installation of the commission and the nomination and election of its main officials: Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB – GO) and Senator Eduardo Girão (Novo – CE) assumed the positions of president and vice-president, respectively, while Senator Romário (PL – RJ) was appointed as the rapporteur.

During this inaugural meeting, there was a unanimous call for harmony and collaboration among the members, aiming to ensure transparency and effectiveness in future investigations. It was agreed that the CPI meetings would take place on Mondays, at 3 pm, or on Wednesdays, at 2 pm, depending on the nature of the invitation to the deponent and the estimated duration of the session. This distinction seeks to accommodate longer sessions on Mondays and shorter ones on Wednesdays. The commission will be composed of 11 titular members and 7 substitutes.
